Giving

5 Biblical reason to Give

1. God Commanded Giving, referred to in the Bible as tithing. God Ordained tithing and He commanded His people to tithe. God commanded His people to tithe so that there would be funds for God’s work, for caring for the poor, or for those encountering hardship (Deut. 14:22).

2. Tithing is a form of Worship
“Honor the LORD with your possessions, and with the first fruits of your increase: so your barns will be filled with plenty, and your vats will overflow with new wine (Proverbs 3:9-10).

3. Tithing is an act of Faith.
When you tithe, you trust God that He is Your Provider and will help you to live on 90% of your income, so can we walk by faith and not by sight (2 Cor. 5:7).

4. Tithing develops godly Character.
By tithing we can experience what God experiences in His giving to us. Since our natural mind is geared toward self-preservation, we find it hard give. But Jesus Christ said that “it is more blessed to GIVE than receive” (Acts 20:35).

5. There’s only one time to TEST God – God tells us to Prove Him through Tithing.
“Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,” says the Lord Almighty,“ and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it (Malachi 3:10).

What's the Money Used For?

To cover church expenses: the pastor’s housing allowance; cleaning the church; church facility upkeep (utilities; repairs, maintenance; etc.); any dedicated missionaries sponsored by the church or missions/outreach work; distributing to those needy among the church members; ministry supplies (teaching materials, etc.); other church-ministry related expenses; supporting the Wyoming Southern Baptist Network. Our church has elders and a church treasurer to make decisions about distribution of donations for needs to be met. The congregation approves an annual budget for each ministry area.
